House district 45

Your Representative for the State House
Annie Menz

Meet the Representative!

Annie and Son

Representative Annie Menz represents House District 45, covering East Norman and Lake Thunderbird. In 2022, Rep. Menz became the first Latina elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives, and the first Woman Veteran elected to the Oklahoma Legislature in state history.

Born in Oklahoma City, Menz was raised by an Army veteran father, a Mexican immigrant mother, and her grandparents. At age 17, she enlisted in the United States Navy and is a third-generation veteran. Menz’s professional experience includes six years as a nonpartisan Legislative and Executive Assistant at the Capitol and three years with non-profit organizations that provide behavioral care, immunizations, and prescription drugs to low-income communities. Recreationally, Annie and her son enjoy skeet shooting, video gaming, and hiking around Lake Thunderbird.

Menz is a member of the American Legion and AFSCME. She is the founder of the annual Hispanic Cultural Day at the State Capitol and a founding member of the Oklahoma Legislative Latino Caucus. She is the recipient of several awards, including Quilts of Valor, ODPVC Legislator of the Year, Norman Next Under 40, and the Oklahoma Hispanic Institute Top 40 Leadership Award. Menz proudly serves on the board of directors for the Norman Cultural Connection and The Beacon Project.

“Watching my family serve our country, church, and community, I learned the value of hard work and public service at an early age. They showed me how to love my neighbors without exception. Since concluding my service with the Navy, I’ve continually sought opportunities to make a difference. For about 7 years as a staffer at the Capitol, I specialized in legislative research, constituent communication, and casework, and developed relationships on both sides of the aisle. Since I have been elected to represent East Norman, I have been putting my expertise, grit, and energy to good use, fighting to make your voice heard.”

Menz’s platform includes:

  • protecting our natural resources from government overreach,

  • fighting corruption,

  • investing in public education and transportation,

  • and promoting solutions for the housing and affordability crises.

“I’m fighting for the East Norman children, veterans, and working families who need fully-funded public schools, affordable housing, health care, and a living wage. Too many of our neighbors are struggling through poverty, yet real support for us appears less of a priority to some state leaders than a turnpike our community doesn’t want. As your State Representative, I listen, demand accountability, meet folks where they are, and put service into action.”
